Meet our Intern, Sarah

Sara is a Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern (IMH 23921) with SC Counseling who specializes in life transitions, anxiety, depression, identity, trauma, and mind-body approaches. She provides therapy sessions for a discounted rate and is under the direct supervision of Sarah Claire.

Sarah is passionate about treating the WHOLE person. She believes that mental and emotional struggles not only reside within the mind, but also in the body.

Polyvagal theory is at the foundation of her therapeutic approach. As a result, her work is integrative and often incorporates the physical body through nervous system education and regulation practices, meditation, EMDR, walk & talk, parts work, Reiki, and somatic work.

Sarah’s therapeutic approach is open and collaborative. She believes the body holds wisdom and empowers the individual to regain trust and safety with self to allow the inner knowing to be felt and understood. She is not here to fix you, rather to support, educate, hold space and walk with you on your journey back home to self.

She intends to create a nurturing, supportive, and calming environment that allows for vulnerability and relief.  Her aim is to allow the client to build the resourcing to support their WHOLE self in navigating presenting challenges.

Meet Marigold.

Marigold is our trusty (and sometimes rowdy) companion in sessions. She is my angel of a  golden-doodle pup and brings such life and comfort to our sessions. She is thrilled to see you and will give you love and space as you need. I had dreamed of having a little companion in sessions and in life for years and in 2019, she came into my life like an answer to a heart prayer.

She serves as a therapy dog and is hypoallergenic, but if you are allergic to dogs or would prefer to have a canine free therapy space, please let me know.
